Representatives of the Team Kass Foundation presented a $1,000.00 award to the 2nd annual recipient of the Kathleen Paternostro Morgan Memorial Scholarship on Thursday, May 29 during a visit to the East Lycoming School District. The 2014 recipient is Miss Allison Russell, a senior at Hughesville High School. As she accepted the award, Allison remarked, “I am very grateful and proud to be recognized with this scholarship award from the Team Kass Foundation.”
“This year, we decided to increase the amount of our scholarship to further recognize Kathleen’s life and legacy as a graduate of Hughesville High School, and because of our family’s long-standing commitment to the school district. We were very impressed with the quality and accomplishments of all of the nominees, but felt that Allison best represented the essence of Kathleen’s life and time as a student here at Hughesville,” remarked Krista L. Paternostro, chairman of the Team Kass Foundation Board of Directors, and Kathleen’s older sister.
A scholarship will be presented annually to a deserving high school senior(s) who demonstrates Kathleen’s esteemed qualities and work ethic, including dedication to academics, sports and the community in which they live. Founded in January 2013, the Team Kass Foundation will also provide support to mothers diagnosed with cancer who are raising young children.
